This week I found myself being interviewed for the first time about why I care so much about civics.
Ultimately I feel deeply certain that parenthood is the right time to rethink civics in a big way. If someone tried to tell me that civics was much bigger than politics before I had Gus, I would have heard it differently, perhaps with a touch of cynicism or maybe even an eye roll. So believe me, I get it. But there are aspects of civics that lend themselves to parenthood, like the way we think about community and the fine-tuning of our values, and so I’m capturing lightning in a bottle as much as I can, and building this community is at the core of it.
Here at Civic EQ, we’re all about focused, bite-sized, accessibly articulated wisdom, and Lindsey Cormack’s recent episode (linked here) for Educating for Sustainable Democracy checks all the boxes for guiding parents in raising well-informed and active little citizens.
Have a great weekend,
Sarah
