Being a parent is accepting that Monday-Friday is your break from the olympic sport of weekend parenting.
Most activities don’t offer just as much of a good time for us as for kids, and that’s OK because we’re on a journey of selflessness and nothing in life is free! But in the spirit of creating something that is fun and educational for parents and kids alike, I’m beyond excited to announce Storytime with Civic EQ.
Show a millennial parent a nostalgic activity and we’re there. Starting next month, I’m partnering with my local bookshop to host a civics-themed storytime. We’re kicking off with One Vote, Two Votes, I Vote, You Vote. Each book will be read by someone different, everyone from actors to educators to community leaders, and the beauty of civic-themed kids’ books is they actually do offer something to both parents and kids (this is actually how I re-learned a lot about civics when I was writing my children’s book).
We’re kicking off September 7 with one of my favorite people in the world Mark Feuerstein, who you can watch in two of the summer’s best dramas Hotel Cocaine and Lady in the Lake starring Natalie Portman on Apple TV. If you’re in LA, register here. My pie-in-the-sky dream is for civic storytimes to pop up in different cities but for now, see you at Chevalier’s Books!!
See you Friday for our next microdose,
Sarah
So sad we won’t be in town for this but can’t wait to come to the next!
